IBM i & SQL Tips: Finding Unused Objects with QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS

Last Updated on 11 September 2025 by Roberto De Pedrini

I’d like to share with you this interesting post by Massimo Duca, the first in a series of articles dedicated to SQL on IBM i.

In this contribution, Massimo shows how to leverage the QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS table to identify objects in specific libraries that have not been used for a long time, filtering them by their last used date.

All the code in the post is available on Github!

A practical and immediately applicable example, very useful for anyone looking to do some “housekeeping” in their environments and keep object usage under control.
